is lifting any kind of weights bad for you?

I've been lifting weights for about 2 months before starting I asked my doctor and he said I can, but need to start light or hurt me and now my Causin went to the hospital and told him all kinds of lifting weights is bad because if you do it for a long time and prevent that the muscles become soft and can get arthritis, basically, your body gets messed up he said that rather than doing push-ups pull ups sit ups and run (i use weights) what they said is true? and weightlifting to have fun with me?

Your Doctor is right. Strength training with weights is a safe activity. Heating and begin to light, but regularly increasing the weight lifted otherwise it will continue to develop. Many in the medical profession have no training in developing of force. Hospital staff were offering incredibly bad advice. They are simply a repetition of an old myth. Doctors recommend strength training for children. Enhances athletic performance and helps prevent injuries. Various medical websites have articles on this. For example, see the following statement linked from the Cleveland Clinic: "Despite the previously held belief that strength training was safe and effective for children, organizations Health and the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and National Power and Association (NSCA) now "support the participation children in appropriately designed and competently supervised program of strength training.
