My dog has joint pain. Can I give you an aspirin? If so, how?
ASA is commonly used for dogs. It has been used for decades by veterinarians, with good results. It is administered by weight. Glucosamine / MSM will also help. There is a topical MSM in pure form called dimethyl sulfoxide DMSO (SP). If you place it directly in the affected area as a liniment, which absorbs and makes a big help. Our vet suggested that often, but has an odor. If you end up having to resort to pain medication, I prefer to Metacam. My older dogs seem to have better results with it than with prescription NSAIDs.
